Corinth is a historical continuation of ancient Corinth
Corinth is the capital of the Prefecture of Corinth and an important port of the Peloponnese. There you will see the Corinth Canal, the construction of which began in 1880 and was completed in 1893, and connects the Saronic Gulf with the Gulf of Corinth.
Corinth is a historical continuation of ancient Corinth. In 1858 the old city of Corinth, now known as Ancient Corinth, was leveled by an earthquake. This led to the construction of the new city SE of the ancient port of Lechaio, on the shores of the Gulf of Corinth.
